In the Soviet Union there were about four million Jews, but their role was much more important than this percentage would indicate. In 1924, 1925, 1926, and 1927 the Soviet Union wanted to create for the Jews a landed community.

The population started a fight with the guards, and shouted to the Jews to run away. The guards were killed, and the Jews hid in the wood. After this Rogachev was destroyed for this etc. but subsequently the Jews returned to the town.

In the Gosbank for example, the chief and most of the bosses, the hard accountants, the cashiers - were mostly Jews. The Jews also dotainated the trade organizations of the government, and the handling of gold, which is done by an organ of the NKVD.

In the provinces, however, the Jews had a distinctive accent. I am very much opposed to anti-semitism. I had many Jewish friends who were fine people. The Germans are onethousand times as bad as the Jews.

But in general no such differences exist. (What are the peculiar characteristics of the Jews?) Mostly, about one-half of the Jews are not different from the others at all. They are plain workers. It is true, many Jews work in stores, this is the chief trait of the Jews that they always try to work in some store or as a director of some store.

The Jews want to live in cities. In post-war Russia there seems to have been an enormous change. Recognizing that the population is anti- Semitic and hates the Jews, the government has begun the russification of its departments.
