Professor Bailey has completed during the past year a
history of the Harvard Observatory, which is shortly to appear as
Harvard Monograph No. 3. It deals with the development of
Astronomy in New England, and the rise of the Harvard Observatory, which has gone hand in hand with that development.

College Observatory, died December 14, 1976.
CENTER FOR ASTROPHYSICS
In 1973 Harvard College Observatory (HCO) joined with
the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory (SAO) to
form, under a single director, the Center for Astrophysics to pursue "excellence in astrophysical research."
